Move over, space travel and artificial intelligence—Delta H Innovations, a U.K. startup, is bringing us the real breakthrough: self-cooling beer cans. (Finally, science with priorities!)
The “Cool Can” looks like your standard aluminum can, but flip it over and—boom—there’s a power button that activates the magic. (Yes, your beer now has an “ON” switch.)
Here’s how it works: Inside the can, there’s an insulated chamber. When you press the button, water mixes with special salts to trigger a cooling reaction. Within seconds, the can’s exterior turns icy cold. The only catch? The beer itself takes up to 10 minutes to fully chill, depending on how hot it is. (Which, let’s be honest, feels like forever when you’re thirsty.)
The upside? The chilling effect lasts 45 minutes and reactivates every time you take a sip. (So technically, you now have a personal beer butler.)
There are a few trade-offs: The can holds only 70% of a normal 12-ounce beer but takes up the space of a 16-ouncer. (So, a “tallboy” with commitment issues.)
The real game-changer? No need for coolers or ice. You could haul a 12-pack into the wilderness and still enjoy an ice-cold drink—without lugging a YETI cooler the size of a small car.
Best of all, the cans are recyclable, and Delta H says the extra cost is “marginal.” (Translation: Your beer budget won’t suffer.)
No word yet on when these will hit shelves, but major companies like Coca-Cola, Red Bull, and big beer brands are already in talks. Stay tuned—and in the meantime, keep suffering through the agony of lukewarm beverages.
(Or, you know, just drink faster.) 🍻
