Holiday Mix-Up: Mattel’s New “Wicked” Dolls Accidentally Link to Adult Website

Wicked

Shoppers were surprised to discover a misprint on Mattel’s new “Wicked” doll packaging, which unintentionally directs users to an adult film website instead of the movie’s official page. The packaging, intended to promote the upcoming “Wicked” movie release on Nov. 22, was swiftly called out by consumers on social media, who shared photos and videos highlighting the misdirected URL.

In a statement, Mattel acknowledged the error: “Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the U.S., which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page. We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this.”

Parents are advised that the incorrect link is inappropriate for children. Mattel recommends that those with the product discard the packaging or cover the link and reach out to Customer Service for assistance.

The new “Wicked” dolls, based on characters from the beloved Broadway show and movie adaptation, are available for purchase at major retailers like Target, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.
