The Most Expensive Vintage Toy

A new record has been set for the most expensive vintage toy ever. But before you start rummaging through your closet or attic, it’s unlikely you have this one.

It’s Boba Fett, the iconic character from “Star Wars.” Specifically, it’s the original Kenner action figure from 1979. This particular version, however, was never officially released to the market.

The prototype for the figure featured a missile that could be fired from a cannon on its back. However, due to safety concerns, the company decided not to include this feature in the versions sold to the public.

Approximately 100 prototypes with the functional rocket were produced, with around 70 currently in the hands of collectors. One of these rare prototypes just sold at auction for a record-breaking $525,000.

Previously, the highest price paid for one of these potentially hazardous Boba Fett figures was $236,000. The recent buyer is open to reselling it, but his minimum asking price is now $787,500.

Looks like this Boba Fett is hunting bounties not just in the galaxy far, far away, but in the auction houses too!
