MTV News, Comedy Central Clips Purged From Internet

A purge of information is being done by Paramount Global. It affects a variety of information on the websites of MTV, Comedy Central and CMT.

The purge started Monday when the archives of MTV News were deleted. All of the music history that was part of the founding of MTV in 1996 until the news operation shut down last year is gone.

The news archives were also removed from CMT.

As for Comedy Central.... all of the content on Comedy Central’s website — dating back 25 years — has been removed. Clips from all episodes of “The Daily Show” since 1999, as well as segments from the full 11-season run of Stephen Colbert’s “The Colbert Report,” are gone. Thousands of “Daily Show” clips remain free to watch on YouTube, but those go back only to 2015.

It all appears to be an effort to push people to watch and subscribe to Paramount+.
